Finally, a spin-off movie of a beloved TV show that doesn’t disappoint! The original French series is a fast-paced office comedy set in a chic Parisian talent agency. Thanks to Mathias’s complicated (and mostly backfiring) schemes, Noémie ends up producing their former colleague Andréa’s first film as a writer-director.
Enter Casta and Macaigne as the leads in the film-within-the-film, with Macaigne represented by ASK alum Gabriel (Grégory Montel), who left to be the token nice guy at a ruthless rival agency. Meanwhile, Andréa has split from her girlfriend and co-parent Colette (Ophélia Kolb), which adds some drama through a custody battle. Thankfully, everyone’s favorite comic relief—tough old-timer Arlette (Liliane Rovère) and assistant-turned-actor Hervé (Nicolas Maury)—are still in the mix, even if Arlette is underused until the final act.
Writers Fanny Herrero, Lison Daniel, and Violaine Bellet, along with director Émilie Noblet, skillfully keep the stream of industry-insider jokes flowing at a steady pace, without ever feeling smug, sentimental, or self-congratulatory.
