Dolly Parton has postponed her upcoming Las Vegas concert residency because of health issues. The 79-year-old singer was scheduled to start a six-show series at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace on December 4. She shared on social media that she’s been facing some health challenges and her doctors have advised her to undergo a few procedures.
While she didn’t specify what the procedures are, she joked, “As I told them, it must be time for my 100,000-mile checkup, though it’s not the usual visit to my plastic surgeon!”
She went on to explain, “Seriously, because of this, I won’t be able to rehearse and create the show I want to give you—the one you deserve. You spend your hard-earned money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best. I can still handle my other projects from Nashville, but I need a bit of time to get ready for the stage. And don’t worry about me retiring; God hasn’t given me the signal to stop yet. I believe He’s just telling me to take it easy now so I can be prepared for more exciting adventures with all of you. I love you and appreciate your understanding.”
This would have been Parton’s first extended Las Vegas concert series in 32 years.
In recent years, Parton has maintained a steady output of music. Her 2023 album, Rockstar, which included collaborations with icons like Elton John, Debbie Harry, Sting, and even Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr on a cover of “Let It Be,” reached the Top Five in both the US and UK. In 2024, she released Smoky Mountain DNA: Family, Faith and Fables, featuring her family members.
More recently, in June, she teamed up with the rock band Mötley Crüe for a fresh take on their song “Home Sweet Home.” A musical based on her life, Dolly: A True Original Musical, debuted in Nashville in July, with hopes of moving to Broadway.
Her husband of nearly six decades, Carl Dean, passed away in March at the age of 82.
