Social media influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate have been arrested in Miami on UK charges by federal authorities, the US Marshals Service has confirmed. The brothers were taken into custody on Saturday following an extradition request from British authorities, according to a person familiar with the matter who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the case publicly. A news release from the UK’s Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) stated that Andrew Tate, 39, has been charged with seven additional counts of rape, three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation, three counts of assault causing actual bodily harm, and 19 further charges related to indecent images of a child and extreme pornography. Additional charges against Tristan Tate, 38, include one count of sexual assault, two counts of rape, and three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation.
The charges stem from events that allegedly took place between July 2010 and August 2017, according to the CPS report. “We have decided to prosecute Andrew and Tristan Tate for further offences including rape, arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation, and offences relating to indecent images of a child,” said Malcolm McHaffie, head of the CPS’s special crime division. “These charging decisions followed receipt of a further file of evidence from Bedfordshire police and bring the total number of alleged victims in this case to seven.”
Bedfordshire police said the total number of charges against the brothers is now 59, with 42 against Andrew Tate and 17 against Tristan Tate. Assistant Chief Constable Karena Thomas said officers are working closely with the CPS and national and international law enforcement agencies in this “complex investigation.”
