Before Oasis’s reunion shows this year, you could have predicted certain sights: bucket hats? Check. Crowds decked out in Adidas? Absolutely. Enough beer to fill the Thames? Of course. But one unexpected sight was the number of families at these concertsâgroups spanning generations, from kids experiencing their first big gig to older relatives who remembered seeing the band back in the 90s.
In Cardiff on the first night, one woman shared how she’d attended an Oasis show in the same city 31 years ago while pregnant with her sonânow she was back with him and his young daughter. Nearby, a 10-year-old boy celebrated his birthday with his dad, who had first seen the band as a teenager with his own father. Similar scenes played out at Pulpâs recent showsâlike their hometown gig in Sheffield last week, where kids knew every word to the hits (even the cheeky ones like Sorted for Eâs and Wizz).
