Jamaican singer and actor Jimmy Cliff, whose smooth voice played a key role in making reggae popular worldwide, has passed away at 81.
His wife, Latifa Chambers, shared the news on Instagram, writing: “It breaks my heart to tell you that my husband, Jimmy Cliff, has passed away after suffering a seizure and then pneumonia. I’m grateful for his family, friends, fellow artists, and coworkers who were part of his life’s journey. To all his fans everywhere, your support gave him strength throughout his career. Jimmy, my love, rest in peace. I will honor your wishes.” The message was also signed by their children, Lilty and Aken.
