Malik poate fi singura imigrantă din Irlanda care își transformă propriul ordin de deportare în comedie, dar mulți alții îi împărtășesc furia față de un sistem despre care spun că a devenit dur și arbitrar.
Guvernul irlandez a înăsprit aplicarea legii la frontieră și regulile privind migrația, azilul și naturalizarea pe fondul unei penurii de locuințe și al presiunii asupra serviciilor publice atribuită parțial imigrației. Pancarte la protestele anti-imigrație declară că „Irlanda este plină”.
Ministrul justiției, Jim O'Callaghan, a declarat că autoritățile doresc să limiteze creșterea populației care este de șapte ori media UE.
