Malik est peut-être la seule immigrée en Irlande à transformer son propre arrêté d'expulsion en comédie, mais beaucoup d'autres partagent sa colère contre un système qu'ils jugent devenu dur et arbitraire.

Le ministre de la Justice, Jim O'Callaghan, a déclaré que les autorités souhaitent freiner une croissance démographique sept fois supérieure à la moyenne de l'UE. Les critiques affirment que le tapis de bienvenue a été retiré injustement à des cas méritants, notamment des étudiants de Gaza à qui des visas ont été refusés malgré des offres de bourses d'universités irlandaises.
D'autres, comme Malik, ont vu leurs demandes de renouvellement et de prolongation de visa retardées et refusées malgré des offres d'emploi. « C'est kafkaïen. Pourquoi lirais-je Le Procès ? Originaire de Gurgaon, près de Delhi, Malik s'est installée en Irlande en 2022 avec un visa étudiant pour poursuivre un M.Phil (Master of Philosophy) en littérature au Trinity College de Dublin.
